Sr Isotope, Major, and Trace Element Signatures in Karst Groundwaters

نویسندگان

چکیده

Natural and anthropogenic factors highly influence the concentration of major (Na, Mg, K, Ca) trace (Sr, Ba, Mn, Li) elements, anions (HCO3−, NO3−, SO42−, Cl−), Sr isotopic signatures. The current study identified signature in groundwaters from Southern Carpathians Apuseni Mountains karst areas Romania its relation to water’s chemistry. ranged between 16.5 658 µg/L, but most groundwaters, it was below 200 µg/L. A considerable spatial variation a low temporal variation, with slightly lower winter than spring, were observed. strong positive correlation Ca, Na indicated common source these elements. main dissolution carbonates, especially calcite, dolomite lesser extent. 87Sr/86Sr ratio 0.7038 0.7158. Generally, waters high moderate ratios carbonate dissolution, whereas samples concentrations suggested silicates.

Major, trace element, and Nd, Sr and Pb isotope studies of Cenozoic basalts in SE China: mantle sources, regional variations, and tectonic significance

Major, trace element, and Nd–Sr–Pb isotopic compositions of mantle xenolith-bearing Cenozoic basalts in southeastern China are measured to provide an insight into the nature of their mantle sources and processes. Application of a modified Ž . dynamic melting inversion DMI method presented here to SE China basalts suggests that Nushan and Fangshan basalts are formed by 4–11% partial melting of a...

Trace element transport rates in subduction zones: evidence from Th, Sr and Pb isotope data for Tonga-Kermadec arc lavas

Trace element and Th, Sr and Pb isotope data for young lavas from the Tonga-Kermadec arc in the southwest Pacific suggest that geochemical variations in the lavas along the arc are linked to differences in the material being subducted beneath the arc. Lavas from the southern (Kermadec) segment of the arc have relatively radiogenic Pb isotope compositions, which reflects a contribution from subd...

Hydrothermal impacts on trace element and isotope ocean biogeochemistry

Hydrothermal activity occurs in all ocean basins, releasing high concentrations of key trace elements and isotopes (TEIs) into the oceans. Importantly, the calculated rate of entrainment of the entire ocean volume through turbulently mixing buoyant hydrothermal plumes is so vigorous as to be comparable to that of deep-ocean thermohaline circulation. Consequently, biogeochemical processes active...

Modeling Major and Trace Element Chemistry of Zoned Metal Grains

Introduction: The compositional variations [1 and references therein] in the zoned metal grains from the CH and CB chondrites are generally interpreted as unequivocal evidence for their condensation from a parcel of H 2-rich gas with solar or somewhat increased dust/gas (D/G) ratios [2,3]. Although different origins of such gas are discussed [e.g., 4-7], its high enrichment in H 2 [8] and low a...
